Subluxation

Spinal vertebrae can lose their normal alignment or motion: in the chiropractic profession this is referred to as a subluxation. The effects of a subluxated vertebrea are pressure on the nerves and blood vessels, interrupting the natural pathways and messages from the brain to various tissues and organs. Car accidents, slips and falls or any sudden trauma can cause subluxations.

Left untreated, the effects of a subluxation also include degeneration of the spinal discs. The longer it remains, the chances of reversing the degeneration diminishes. This is due to the surrounding muscles, bones and nerve getting used to the new position. Eventually, the body starts to compensate in other areas. Thus making correction more difficult.
